about

Alden Penner is a Canadian musician, founder and member of indie pop bands like Clues and the Unicorns, known for their successful album ‘Who Will Cut Our Hair When We’re Gone?'

Penner on his new release: "These are liberation songs I hope, of the spiritual kind, seeking to uplift hearts to new heights of understanding and appreciation of the literature and station of the Universal House of Justice.”

'Odes to the house’ is a collection of intimate acoustic songs in which Penner expresses appreciation and love in response to the experiences provided by the House.

Prior to his first European tour as member of the new band 'The Hidden Words' Penner went on a four month journey leading him from Bamako, Mali to Haifa, Israel. Added to this was time spent reflecting and putting together the 4 songs forming 'Odes to the House' in Paris, Vendôme, Thoré la Rochette and Utrecht. In Utrecht Penner teamed up with Dutch record label Beep! Beep! Back up the Truck who documented his songs and released them as unique handmade packages m

The collection of songs are dedicated to the people of the world, particularly in North Africa and the Middle East, who have been expressing their desire for justice and peace in recent months, in the hopes this energy and fervour can be channeled into true and enduring emancipation from the weight of grievous oppression.
